Z Microsystems Awarded Patent for Parallel Image Processing and Routing System

– Simultaneously switches multiple input image streams to multiple output devices while providing real-time image enhancement –

SAN DIEGO – September 11, 2012 — Z Microsystems, a leading provider of field-ready computing systems, today announced that it has been awarded a patent for inventing a system and method for parallel image processing and routing. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued U.S. Patent No. 8,266,333 on September 11, 2012.

The patent encompasses a system and method for simultaneously switching multiple input image streams to multiple output devices while providing optional image processing functions on the image streams. The incoming image streams may come from computers, cameras, radar, or other image stream generating devices. They may vary in resolution, frame rate, format, and protocol according to the characteristics and purpose of their respective source devices. Z Microsystems’ newly patented technology is incorporated in its Any-Image-Anywhere (AIA), a real time image enhancement and routing system for full motion video.

Any-Image-Anywhere combines high performance parallel processing, high speed video switching, and open architecture algorithms to provide enhanced full motion video in real time. For unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), which have become indispensable in military and intelligence operations, AIA offers unprecedented image clarity, access to multiple views from a single display station, and the ability to route video streams on-demand. While this technology was initially developed for UAS, it is broadly applicable in broadcasting, forestry, mining, traffic management, and other image-intensive applications.

“This patent award recognizes Z Microsystems’ ongoing investments in R&D and the resulting innovations in parallel processing of multiple video image streams,” said Jack Wade, CEO of Z Microsystems. “This is a new and unique technology that will deliver high quality imagery in real time that enables accurate assessments by personnel responsible for taking decisive action.”
