AS9100 is the quality management standard specific to the aerospace industry but it also includes the ISO 9001 standard verbatim. Consequently, any company registered to AS9100 also meets the requirements of ISO 9001. In addition, this standard includes additional requirements specific to the unique requirements of the aerospace industry. First published in May 1997 by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) as AS9000, the AS standard has evolved to AS9100 Rev. D and is recognized by all major Aerospace OEMs.
