Zmicro is seeking a temp-to-hire QC Inspector I / MRB Coordinator at our San Diego facility. Job Summary:
This is an entry-level position within the Quality Department and provides an opportunity to develop skills in quality inspection, material control, nonconformance management, and the MRB process.
ZMicro is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented QC Inspector I / MRB Clerk to perform incoming component inspections and provide support to the MRB process. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately verify part numbers, quantities, documentation, and material identification. Previous experience in manufacturing, materials, inventory, or inspection is helpful but not required.
This role requires a methodical approach, effective communication skills, organizational ability, and a willingness to learn. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate MRB inventory, performing timely ERP transactions, maintaining NCMR documentation, and ensuring nonconforming material is properly identified, controlled, and traceable.
This position supports ZMicro’s quality management systems and contributes to the delivery of high-reliability products for customers in the military, aerospace, and medical industries.
Primary Responsibilities:
Quality Inspection:
– Perform incoming inspection of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and materials in accordance with established procedures and inspection requirements.
– Verify part numbers, quantities, revisions, descriptions, identification, and applicable documentation.
– Record inspection results accurately in paper and electronic formats.
– Identify and segregate nonconforming material in accordance with established procedures.
– Generate Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) when required.
– Verify shipping and receiving paperwork and assist with product shipment approvals as assigned.
– Maintain accurate records of conforming and nonconforming materials.
MRB Responsibilities:
– Support the MRB process by ensuring MRB inventory is updated daily in the ERP system.
– Organize and maintain the MRB cage to ensure all material is properly identified, segregated, and traceable.
– Accurately document NCMRs and ensure approved dispositions are clearly and correctly recorded.
– Ensure completed NCMRs and supporting documentation are scanned and filed in accordance with established requirements.
– Perform timely ERP transactions and physical material movements based on approved MRB dispositions, including return to stock, scrap, rework, and return to supplier.
– Assist with MRB meetings and provide accurate information regarding material location, quantity, and NCMR status.
– Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other departments regarding nonconforming material status and disposition activities.
– Maintain applicable logs related to material troubleshooting and nonconforming material.
– Support rework work orders by coordinating material flow and related ERP transactions.
– Maintain accurate traceability between physical material, NCMRs, ERP transactions, and associated documentation.
General Quality Responsibilities:
– Follow established Quality procedures, work instructions, and document control requirements.
– Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled work area.
– Promptly communicate quality, material, or documentation issues to the appropriate personnel.
– Protect the integrity and traceability of quality records.
– Support internal and external audit activities as requested.
– Perform other related Quality Department duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, materials, inventory, inspection, or a related environment preferred, but not required.
3. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written instructions and procedures.
4. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
5. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn ERP and quality management systems.
6. Ability to work effectively with others and communicate questions or issues clearly.
7. Ability to work independently after receiving appropriate training and direction.
8. Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and willingness to learn.
9. Ability to safely handle and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
1. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
2. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and handle materials as required to perform inspection and MRB activities.
3. Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while performing inspection, documentation, and data-entry tasks.
4. Work may be performed in office, receiving, inspection, MRB, warehouse, and manufacturing areas.
5. Occasional exposure to typical manufacturing-related noise, equipment, and materials.
Salary range: $22.50 – $24.00 per hour
