– EVD to contribute to library of algorithms used to sharpen full-motion video images in military displays –
SAN DIEGO – June 2, 2010 — Z Microsystems, a leading provider of mission-ready computing systems, today announced a partnership with Enhanced Video Devices (EVD), a developer of contrast enhancement solutions, whereby EVD will develop algorithms to enhance full-motion video on Z Microsystem’s FPGA-based image processing equipment.
Z Microsystems is working with third-party developers to build a library of algorithms to apply to full motion video to enhance and clarify images in real time. These algorithms will support Z Microsystems’ image processing equipment used in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) military applications. EVD will initially provide algorithms for spatial noise reduction and contrast enhancement.
“We are committed to providing an open architecture for developers to provide algorithms that enhance the performance of our image processing platforms,” said Jack Wade, CEO of Z Microsystems. “We look forward to working with EVD and others in the future to improve the image quality of surveillance video used in military applications.”
“These sophisticated image enhancement algorithms will be applied to full-motion video to bring out the detail from images degraded by poor visibility or atmospheric interference. This will allow military analysts to make better decisions,” said Tom Carson, CEO of EVD.
Z Microsystems encourages developers to contribute to its growing library of video enhancement algorithms. Interested developers should contact Z Microsystems at firstname.lastname@example.org.
